Hans Hoffman Inspiration
Whenever my color is bold and layered in large strokes
I am reminded by my public that it feels like Hans Hoffman
is reincarnated and stepped into my soul.
He of course was a huge talent that forged forward when others
doubted him... (hey, sounds like me!)
And we all benefit from that kind of ground breaking courage.
Hans Hoffman had a blend of color/ image / expression and energy that
is not found in many painters fleeing from Germany under Hitler.
Hans Hoffman was not afraid of Nazi Germany, he was stifled by it.
As most artists were.
We benefited from that condition and gained the talents of many that
could not live under the oppression of a Nazi regime.
Where would Chicago be without Mies Van der Rohe?
Where would be all be without my dearest Hans Hoffman blending
and stroking to encourage me to be BOLDER and STRONGER in all
of my color choices.
Where would we all land at the end of a seemingly longest day without
a pillow of his thoughts and dreams under my head.
I will paint with Hans Hoffman in my soul today.
I will dedicate what I muse to his memory and his strength of character.
Paint on!!
