Artists create something from nothing everyday.
We sit before a canvas or a slab of some material.
and shape it into something else.
We paint and sketch and erase and scrape.
We brush across and up and down and we do minute details
of images that never existed.
EVER
Our work is new.
We create it from a small image in our brain.
Or our soul.
Or our heart.
Who knows where the image comes from.
But it is real on the canvas as soon as we release it.
As soon as we brush color on color or take color away
we have created something new.
I love the first few brushes on a canvas.
And I love the last few.
When you know a piece is done and you send it off the easel to dry.
When you begin to look at it in different light.
When it sees its first sunset and totally changes.
All in MY HEAD.
