Hans Hoffman and the ABSTRACT ARTIST

We all owe Hans Hoffman a debt of gratitude.
If it not for him many of us Abstract ARTISTS
would be labeled as TOO BOLD
or TOO STRONG
or USING PAINT DIRECTLY OUT OF TUBES
We would be criticized for our images being too direct
or too much in contrast.

For you see,
Hans Hoffman is all of these,
and HE is FABULOUS.

I emulate his images sometimes.
It is just how I think.
A colorful smudge.
A square image in the middle of a piece.
A rectangular image just off center.

He taught us alot about balance.
It is like hanging an art grouping.
It is not all about measuring and spacing.
It is the weight of the pieces and how they feel next to each other.

Hans Hoffman blazed a trail for all of us
and we need to pay a bit of homage to him
and to his achievements.
