Pumpkin Piles and Strange Squash

I have this thing about Pumpkins and Squash.
They tend to gather on my porch
my doorways
and in my kitchen.

I just love the shapes and colors.
The funny crooked necks
and striping.
The peanut squash/pumpkins with their lumps and bumps.
The Squashed Squash that makes the creamiest soups ever.

I just love to collect them and pile them.
I love to enjoy them for months
and then cook them up
and smell the aroma mixed with rosemary
and apples.

Squash is the best for soup.
But serving it simple
steamed and next to other veggies
is fun!
Love the bright colors
of its inside flesh.

Love the different textures
and the combinations it can make.

But painting in the colors of pumpkins and squash
leaves me breathless.
Those colors are in my brain.
They permeate my feelings about
Halloween
Thanksgiving
and Christmas.

They are the earth colors of fall.
They are Michigan
Ohio
the whole midwest.
Not to mention
Germany
and the UK.
I love fall
and with fall
comes the fall harvest.

Want the whole harvest now.
No waiting.
Just paint the plenty
and enjoy the whole season
in my kitchen.
Paint it and it will be forever.
