The total sum of the success of an
ABSTRACT piece of work
comes down to energy.
I feel that if the canvas
excites the viewer
the audience is pleased.
The energy of a piece
is in the forms
and their relationships to
each other
but also the use of color
and how it layers
and plays on the canvas.
Color is such an important thing to me
in my work.
Others may not agree with
my premise
but to me
that is when I know
whether a piece is done
and when it is just not
right.
I work until the
color and energy balance
and my eye is satisfied on the
canvas.
It is a melody that
is easily
understood.
Not complex.
Not too many notes.
Just enough interest
energy
and movement
to keep the eye happy
and satisfied with the
result.
When work tells me it
is done
It is done.
Not until.
The energy speaks
to me
and I listen carefully.
When it tells me
that the completion is there
It is.
