Every painter does it.
Every painter has a work or two
that just does not measure up
after the paint is dry
and they look at it
with a comparative eye.
I mean
not every work
is a masterpiece.
Not every work
sings to you
or calls
out to you every day.
So the paint overs
just kind of happen.
They stack against a wall
and then one day
the inspiration
grabs you
and they are no longer even a
memory.
They are just a formation
layer
a film of expression
now gone.
We all have those in life.
The cake that did not rise.
The bread that never
got there.
The wardrobe choice that
never gets the tag removed.
It is a do over
and it happens in life.
