Some people do not consider
the business of ART as
really, well
a BUSINESS.
I have only been involved in commercial art
my whole life.
Making a living with art
is not difficult
but it is a challenge.
Today we have so many ways to market
art to the masses.
And that makes it so much easier.
When I started in this ART world
we had "carphones"
and fax machines.
We had the yellow pages
and billboard advertising.
If you were making it
you did magazine advertising.
No one would do any of that today.
the yellow pages is gone.
Car phones have become small smartphones more like computers.
billboard advertising is still pretty cool
but I would not even consider it.
My audience is worldwide.
I sell work as much in Asia as I do in my
little berg.
Shipping is simple
and expected.
I remember having clients in Chicago and
New York
and thinking I was pretty cool.
But this is waaay beyond all that I could imagine.
I enjoy the changes that happen in
commercial art
everyday.
the world is smaller
and that is really fun.
But mostly I love connecting with artists and
clients around the world and never ever looking back.
