Doing Business and Not Able to Paint!!

It is the toughest thing in every artists life when they cannot
do what they love, but must tend to the necessities of this
business.
It is true no matter what your art is.  Your medium.  Your process.
But in every artists life there is a standard set of guidelines.
You must have the materials ready to work with.
Buy them.
Build them.
And have a comfortable place to do your work.
And the whole BUSINESS side of what we do.
That is muse stifling.

Dealing with the acceptance of others.
That your work is worthy.
That your work is ready to display in their space.
They scrutinize and decide if your work is enough mainstream.
Poison to the soul of an artist.
But the reality of this BUSINESS of art.

Artists are so lucky today.
We can be affiliated with hundreds of online galleries.
Full of great artists that make a living doing what they
love.   And willing to give feedback and constructive criticism
of your work.   Not malign you.  Not attack you.
We do not have that in the world of stick and mortar galleries.
They have every right to say whatever they want.  Their circus.
Their monkeys.
And all artists decide if it is what they want to do.

I happen to enjoy the feedback of the public.
The casual observer that you can watch discover
your work.   They approach it and are drawn to it for
one reason or another and they give feedback that is honest
and real.  Perhaps not educated, but honest and real.
It can be biting, and tough.   But it is the lifeblood of how
we are viewed and I enjoy it.

There is no greater way to REALLY hear what others first
impressions are.  No greater way to see if there is any kind
of instant feedback that may be just wonderful.   If it isn't,
you have to decide how much it permeates what you do and
how you do it.
