Tourists and Fine Art

My US studio is in the Low Country.  That area that is on the ocean and the furthest East you
can be and the almost furthest South.
The interesting history, culture, food, and people make it extremely unique in the US.
I adore the history.  I cannot get enough of it.  Going to lectures, re enactments, and
historical performances is an interesting thing to do.  But honestly, most entertainment
here is based on what tourists want.   Fried food, roller coasters, and the beach.
I find no fault in it.  The reason I ended up here was the beach.
But missing the cultural experience of museums, plays, orchestra, and opera is
not something that can be replaced with tourist rich attractions.
I mean how many tourist in the Low Country look for Opera?  Not many.
But fried anything is a BIG hit.  And golf courses are the high end of entertainment.
I do not golf.
So I long for culture.  I long for art (other than mine), and have found a rich life in it online.
So I am here and I am searching non stop for a form of life to enjoy what I enjoy.
A form of entertainment that echos mine.
And it is rare.  And scarce.
It is only found in tours of Charleston.  And those are pretty touristy too.
But they are based on history.  That helps.
And the history of the buildings and plantations can keep me going.
Longing for a trip to Paris, London, and St. Petersburg.
That immersion may be next year.
But I will continue to dream of it and plan for it.
There is hope.  It is just not here!!
