Utilities of Life

Letting your muse get locked down in the utilities of life is never a good thing.
The non life rewarding activities of cleaning, maintenance, upkeep, and paperwork
zaps my muse.
I know they are all necessary.
I know that many of you are thinking right now how coddled I must be!
And I suppose I am.
The routine does not bother me.  The time spent does.

I mean there are utilities in everything.  Even this blog has utilities.
But when the Utility of Life takes over and the muse dies, there is the tragedy.
Taking time everyday to just feed that muse.
Good music.  Healthy food.  A welcoming studio.  Those are the Utilities worth investing in.
The rest, needs to be dealt with, but not to the cost of the muse.

The muse must get respect.
I cannot paint if my mind is cluttered by routine and utility.
I cannot remember how the brush strokes, how the palette knife scrapes
or applies paint.   I cannot grasp anything good coming out of it if the utility takes over.

And it has to flow.  The Muse must have enough control that it flows from me.
So crank up those tunes.  Make your studio sing so that you heart can sing.
Make it a Muse filled morning of delicious expression.
Feed the Muse of your life.
Let it control your day.  But start with this morning.
Give into it.
