Art Show
Displaying your work in a large venue with large walls and empty space around your work is
EXHILARATING!
And also intimidating, frightening, and PERFECT!!
It is like viewing the Mona Lisa for the first time on that huge wall at the Louvre
and realizing that the powerful work is only a small piece.
It seems so large in its significance!!
When my pieces are surrounded by nothing but space and white walls
They are allowed to speak for themselves.
Crowding my work is sacrilegious.
And yet in a typical gallery setting,
that is EXACTLY what happens.
I long for my own gallery.
A LARGE studio space really.
One that is open to the public for viewing
and perhaps sales,
but honestly just a LARGE studio space with guests!
I would serve HUGE Italian meals full of wine and desserts.
I would wine and dine my guests and oh yeah... view my art!!
I would have these private parties routinely for a set number of people.
The object would be to drink, eat and hear their feedback of work that holds my soul.
And if they were inspired, they could purchase pieces.
But only if they were adopting them, not buying them.
Letting your work go to just anyone, is so difficult.
It must feel like an adoption.
With a gallery of this type, it would be open when I want it to be.
It would not have regular hours.
All the art and work space would be viewable from HUGE front windows.
Passersby would see the work, but not be able to come inside unless invited.
It would tease and create a bit of a flurry of wanting more.
A marketing ploy?
Perhaps.
But in the end MY muse would be served.
In the end
I would have EXACTLY what I want as an artist.
Total control over how and when my work would be totally enjoyed.
