In Search of Cooler Weather

Time for a summer road trip to find a cooler place to enjoy!
This is what the plantation owners have always done in the South.
They left their their crops, left their slaves, and left a bare bones staff
to run the plantation while they found cooler weather up north.

Well this summer I feel the same way (minus the slaves).
We are tired of hot.  Tired of wilting plants.  Tired of endless sun, sand and tourist.
Time to retire to a space of local burgers, lakes and tall evergreens.
We will do some business along the way.
But mostly we will take a break and pretend that the plantation and staff will be there taking care of
everything for us.

The Southern myth of Mint Juleps, Peach Belinis, and straw hats has become a bit tiresome.
We seem, to be picking that cotton, wading the rice fields, and drying the tobacco in the barns.
We are just a wee bit hot and tired.
And we are looking for a cool lake, river, and a bit of quiet and calm.
Just for a while.
Just for a moment.
So if my blog is sparse.
If my words are resting somewhere in my head.
Then all of it is for rest and relaxation.
All of it is for recharging these overcharged batteries.
