Who can beat the shapes
colors
and textures
of a Farmers Market?
Painters gather inspiration
from the bounty of fall
and farmers abundance.
I visit them every day
that they gather.
I buy unusual
veggies
and fruits
flowers
and handmade baskets.
We are limited in the south.
Not alot of farmers
venture far beyond these things.
That is why it is important to visit them
when you travel.
It gives you a true
sense of what the people who
live in a place
value
and what they take time for.
My favorites
are in Santa Fe
because the arts
are not second to anything grown.
The arts take over the markets
with hand woven blankets
and knitted items.
The people of Santa Fe
are just full of art
and it is expressed everywhere.
I love the fencing of twigs and sticks.
I love the bundles of peppers.
Drying and turning darker reds
and maroons.
But everywhere I go
anywhere in the world,
the markets are always fun.
The local bounty is real.
And people come to sample all that
any city
or country has to offer.
