Pigments are Scary

Pigments directly out of a jar
tube
or bucket
are scary.
They stare at you
with expectation.
They dare you to do something grand.
And the pressure is real.
It is impressive that
we ARTISTS
start at all.

I mean
being mocked that way?
Who can take all of that pressure.

Creation cannot happen under pressure
or can it?
It does every day.
It screeches out of us
and lands at our feet
like a big puddle that just splashed us.

It happens because we will it too.
We stand in the middle of the water and
suddenly JUMP
and SPLASH
and our legs are soaked
until our jeans stick
to our knees and we have a hard time stopping.
Walking is not an option
as we keep jumping
and splashing.

Pigments are SCARY and cause such rude behavior.
We react because we must.
We run
and cannot get away
even if we are running into
music
or texting
or sooo difficult crossword
puzzles
that make us give up
and PAINT
with those scary PIGMENTS.
