Bauhaus Movement and My Work

The Bauhaus designers have always influenced my work.
From interior design
to architecture
and decorative arts
The Bauhaus is applicable to just about everything I do.

Form follows function.
And it has ever since it was pointed out
by the likes of Mies VanderRoe
Marcel Breuer
Charles Rennie Mackintosh
Eileil Sarinen
and the list goes on and on.

My children went to Cranbrook
and that campus is a statement
in Bauhaus studies.
Knoll knew it
and so do many from the midwest.
A gem in the crown of a city of jewels.
Wandering around that campus used to
excite me.
Every sculpture
every architectural detail
to the chairs in the
cafeterias where my children ate.
The dorms were statements to Bauhaus.
What a thrill to be involved in it.

I have followed it long before I got
to visit the museums in Germany.
Long before I was a Knoll dealer
and started buying pieces that
really meant something to me.
I collected them.
Now, with my vast travels
I only have a few left.
But it is difficult to let
my Knoll and
Mackintosh pieces go.
They are art to me
just like my art collection is
ART to me.

My work has always related to Bauhaus
practices
bold colors
bold strokes
lines that matter
form
that is going somewhere.
My ode to Bauhaus
continues every day.
