This goes without saying
I know.
Every ARTIST that I know
gets really down sometimes.
It is kind of the nature of the
softer spoken
selves that most of us are.
We absorb criticism like
sponges.
We tell each other not to listen
not to believe
it.
But we may get 300 good reviews
and it is the one
bad one that we memorize.
Just the nature of a
sensitive person
who chooses to take
the roughest road out
there to make a living.
No ARTIST goes
without people attacking
and wounding them.
It happens everywhere.
The FaceBook sites
that attempt to be neutral
ground for ARTISTS
only offering praise
and encouragement
still get their
detractors.
I have had my share of attacks.
I honestly
do not notice anymore.
I do not expect everyone to love
my work.
I do not expect anything
in the way of praise
or encouragement.
I see that as my job.
I think the biggest disappointment
though to fellow
ARTISTS is
lack of sales.
Selling to your niche
your audience
is the greatest accomplishment
that you can have.
Finding that niche can take
years
and many many frustrations.
But once you have it
you feel appreciated
in a way that is difficult to
explain.
I mean the biggest compliment
came when someone bought
my first work.
My first canvas that sold.
What an elation!!
What a genuine compliment.
And after that,
it just kept getting better.
I cannot offer real advice to anyone.
I only know what I know.
I only sell what I sell.
And since my niche is small
and specialized
I do not believe that copying
my will do anyone much good!
I have developed my audience slowly
over many many years.
I believe one thing
very very strongly.
I believe in customer
service and listening
beyond all else.
And when you have clients
and service them
and please them.
They tend to stay forever.
