Judging other Artists. A BIG NO!
Recently on a international gallery site that I exhibit in, I had a rude patron make a typical Abstract
painting, I do not get it kind of statement.
Similar to "my kid could do that", but even more rude.
I mean I get that all kids work in Abstract, Thank GOD!
But to comment on pricing stated with some gawk comment about
"I will give you two buck" does not define me or my image.
It defines the uneducated observer with crass and lowness that all artists hate.
I mean what artist has not been harassed in some way by a person who does not understand art
and has no intention of ever learning. Give those guys a snapshot of how their comment can
be interpreted for their life and shoot it back at them.
Like "where did you get your clothes, pick one: Walmart or Sam's Club"
Or "Nice car, does your grandma miss it"
Or maybe "Your haircut is so embarrassing that the bowl you used just broke"
One of my long term dear friends once told me "there is no excuse for bad behavior"
and she is absolutely correct. I use it with my kids all the time.
Rudeness is just rude. Mean is just mean. And Crass, well you get my pattern here.
So the next time you want to insult someone instead of kicking your dog
(I am talking to the art dummies here)
Look in the mirror and degrade yourself.
Because when you pick on an artist, they do not listen.
They have heard it all before.
The enlightened educated masses will always find them.
The collector will always be created.
The next artist will always envy them!!
